Director Bio: Harrison Roach, a professional surfer, writer, and director from Noosa Heads, Australia, has carved out a unique path. His journey as an adventurer and acclaimed free surfer reached a pinnacle as the 2022 WSL Longboarding World Champion. Known for his traditional approach and "ride anything” mentality, Harrison's travels have taken him around the globe, documenting travel, culture, landscapes, and the art of surfing. His writing shines through in projects like South to Sian (2012) and Arc of Aleutia (2020), blending narrative depth with a sense of curiosity and discovery. In 2023, he made his directorial debut with Garden Variety, a short film highlighting the simple joys of an unplanned motorbike adventure with friends across Java. Kang’s Retreat (2024), takes a comedic look at the industrialization of surfing in Indonesia, adding another layer to his creative expression. Harrison continues to explore the heart of why we pursue our passions, with a nod to the classical, whether in surfing or adventure.
