Object Snap Tracking in FreeCAD Draft
The video explains how to use object snap tracking in FreeCAD Draft workbench. This functionality greatly speeds up drafting workflow and can be know from other drafting software like AutoCAD. This feature is a combination of several incremental features, which can provide the desired functionality when used together. This functionality enables tracking from existing snap points in the drawing and thus removes the need for construction geometry or manual calculations. These features are: - The hold point feature (Q key) - The temporary movement of coordinate system (D key) - Set focus on length FreeCAD version used in the video: 1.1 RC3 Contents: 0:00 Introduction 0:55 The basic usage of object snap tracking – using the ‘D’ key to temporarily move the coordinate system 3:06 Combining temporary movement of the coordinate system with polar coordinates for faster workflow 5:52 Limitation of object snap tracking for tools, which do not offer polar coordinates 7:48 Using object snap tracking in the BIM workbench 8:43 Conclusion You can support creation of future tutorials of the FCB Lounge channel by donating through Ko-Fi https://ko-fi.com/fcblounge Donate to the FreeCAD project to support the development: https://wiki.freecad.org/Donate Follow FCB Lounge channel on LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/company/fcblounge Follow FCB Lounge channel on BlueSky: https://bsky.app/profile/tomaspolak.bsky.social This video was created with the help of OBS: https://obsproject.com/ This video was created with the help of GIMP: https://www.gimp.org/ This video was created with the help of KDEnlive: https://kdenlive.org/ #freecad #CAD #drafting
