Obstructed labour is defined as the failure of the fetus to descend through the birth canal despite good uterine contractions. It’s also a preventable obstetric complication, so the incidence of obstructed labour coincides closely with the quality of maternal and child health facilities and resources. In this lecture, Dr. Okyere discusses the epidemiology, risk factors, causes, effects on mother and baby, diagnosis, and management of obstructed labour.
