An ocarina is basically a flute that has a chamber. The flute is the oldest instrument known to humankind some 70 000 years ago and the ocarina made it's first appearance in China some 12 000 years ago. We trace the history of this instrument which is now more synonymous with MesoAmerica. Learn about the different types of ocarinas and how to play them.
