OLD JOE, a banjo tune written by Frank Brower and found in Thomas Briggs' banjo tutor book of 1855, is presented here, featuring my brother, Fred Ewers’ lead vocals and fiddle. This video was taken by a fan and audience member during a concert we played in St. John’s Episcopal Church, in Beverly Farms, Massachusetts, almost exactly 2 years ago this month.
We had performed another such show at St. John’s 4 years earlier to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the American Civil War. This concert, also sponsored by the church, was promoted as a sort of ‘book-end’ to the original performance.
