Old Songs

Songwriter Saturday 4 I’m planning to create posts about songs I’ve written over the years, and post them on a regular basis, perhaps once a week or so. I figured it would be a good idea to note reasons I wrote some of these songs, and have them posted in a more permanent way. I figure I will call it Songwriter Saturdays. Today’s selection is a cover of a song I wrote in 1978, inspired by a young lady I had a huge crush on in high school, and I was too shy to do anything about it at all. While the inspiration was there, the song includes much poetic license, especially in the lines referring to ‘back in my arms again’, because—she was never in my arms except in the dreams of an adolescent teenage boy. But, the truth of the matter is we all can become time travelers when the radio plays a song from our youth, and suddenly memories come flooding back and seem to transport us to another place and time. In my case it’s a couple of Jim Croce songs, and I am sure you all have your own melodies that create the same nostalgic sensation.
