Style: Swing, typically played at an up tempo. Form: A-A-B-A (32 Bars) [8-8-8-8] A common arrangement is for the rhythm section to lay out during the A sections of the first few choruses with the exception of the bass, as heard on Miles' recordings from Bags' Groove and Relaxin'. Key: Bb Major Harmony/Overview: This composition is a rhythm changes, based on the chord progression of George Gershwin's "I Got Rhythm". The A sections are made up of a bebop oriented line and the B sections are left open with no set melody. Recordings: This song has been recorded over 150 times to date and is one of the most widely known rhythm changes in the repertoire. It was first introduced on the Miles Davis album Bags' Groove and it remained in Miles' repertoire well throughout his career, recording and performing it on several occasions. It remains an especially popular rhythm changes head amongst jazz musicians and continues to be called at jam sessions frequently.
