One Thing Saves DMC2… (Barely)

Welcome to Part 3 of my Devil May Cry 2 longplay, and this time the suffering continues from a different angle: Lucia’s playthrough. After finishing Dante’s route, I’m jumping into the second campaign to find out whether Lucia is actually more fun to play - and honestly, at least at first, she kind of is. In this episode, I start Lucia’s side of DMC2, learn more about her moveset, test her faster and more agile combat style, unlock new weapons and Devil Trigger upgrades, and take on a new set of missions, bosses, and exploration paths. While Devil May Cry 2 still has plenty of clunky mechanics, awkward targeting, and questionable design choices, Lucia’s movement feels smoother, her gameplay feels a bit fresher, and for the first time in this series, the game almost starts to feel fun. That does not mean the problems are gone. The platforming is still painful, the lock-on still has a mind of its own, and some fights still drag on way longer than they should. But compared to Dante’s campaign, Lucia’s route feels more interesting, more mobile, and a little less miserable. This video is part longplay, part first reaction, part retrospective, and part discovering that Lucia might actually be the better character in Devil May Cry 2.
