ONYX™ Training | Embedded Presets
Embedded Presets in ONYX™ | Build Complex Looks with Reusable Preset Layers In this advanced tutorial, Edward from Obsidian Control Systems walks you through embedded presets in ONYX™ — a powerful feature that lets you combine multiple presets into one and keep your programming modular, clean, and lightning-fast. What Are Embedded Presets? Embedded presets allow you to reference other presets inside a new one, rather than recording raw values. This means you can combine position, color, intensity, and more, while keeping each component independently editable. In This Video: ✅ How ONYX™ Presets Work by Default • Color presets contain only color data • Position presets contain only pan/tilt, etc. → Each preset group is normally isolated ✅ Creating a Composite Look Using Embedded Presets Set fixtures using individual presets (e.g., Red color, Downstage position, Full Intensity) Tap Record → Use the Record Options to include multiple parameter groups Select a new preset slot (e.g., under Beam & FX) Choose “Use Embedded References” → This stores links to your original presets, not the raw data! ✅ Benefits of Embedded Presets • Modularity: Update the Red preset, and all looks using it update automatically • Speed: No need to redo composite cues • Visibility: Use Edit → Tap Preset to inspect embedded layers • Keeps your programmer and cues tidy, showing named references ✅ Editing Embedded Presets • Press Edit → Tap your embedded preset → See the actual component presets (e.g., Downstage + Red + Intensity) • Make changes or just press Update to exit • Choose to preserve references or break them if needed 🧠 Embedded presets are ideal for building consistent, easily adjustable looks, whether you're programming a touring rig or fine-tuning a theater show. https://obsidiancontrol.com/ MORE Book a Demo: https://obsidiancontrol.com/distributors New Products: https://obsidiancontrol.com/onyx-control-devices News & Projects: https://obsidiancontrol.com/news Connect with us: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ObsidanControl/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/obsidian_control LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/obsidian-control-systems/
