In our script, we’ll specify: - material and section properties, - overall beam span, - support conditions - loading arrangement, including point forces and moments, uniformly distributed loads and linearly varying distributed loads. Then, with the click of a button, our script will generate the beam reactions, shear force diagram, bending moment diagram and deflected shape. If you want to start working with Python and building your own structural analysis tools, this is a great starter project. Having a quick way to analyse continuous beams is very handy. If you’re a student engineer, having a calculator to check your results against, after each exercise, is a great way of validating your work. It also allows you to generate infinite exercise questions to practice on.
