15thMEU Realism Unit Situation: Following the Royal Thai Army (RTA) securing the Rama IX power plant, the 15th has returned to their base for rearm and resupply. Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN) forces have infiltrated areas between the power plant, the friendly area around Pachan, and the RTA airfield. Additionally, the BRN has captured a military training facility between the airfield and Pachan. Several RTA personnel were at the base at the start of hostilities and are being held hostage by the BRN. With the RTA stretched thin in the area and also concentrating on the larger city of Pattani, the Thai government has requested the USMC assist in the rescue of personnel. INDOPACOM has also identified the BRN as a substantial threat to stability in the area and capable of inciting a conflict between Malaysia and Thailand. Therefore, the 15th is further tasked with elimination of BRN leadership in the region and seizure or destruction of weapons and materiel in use by the BRN. Multiple objectives have been identified as potential locations of BRN weapons and bases. Civilians outside of Pachan are also reportedly assisting BRN forces with non-military supplies such as food, water, and shelter.
