This video deals with the internal planning that goes on within all organisations. This may be related to the layout of the plant, the working practises to be adopted, or some other aspect of the internal functioning of the business. These issues are dealt with by the operational management. Strategic management deals with the external market, the environment within which the business operates, and the marketing function.
In fact organisations have many more functions then those listed above, however this will give a flavour of the difference between operational and strategic management, which of course are dealt with in different videos on the course.
