Ordering Fully Assembled Personality Chips
This video covers ordering personality chip PCBs and having them assembled using JLCPCB's SMT assembly service. Other companies offer similar services; I used JLCPCB simply because it was convenient as I was using EasyEDA which is integrated with JLCPCB's services. I was not paid or compensated to use JLCPCB's service nor is this video intended to be an endorsement of their services. My Droid Personality Chip project is available on OSHWLab here: https://oshwlab.com/ruthsarian/custom-droid-personality-chip NOTE: Some steps in the ordering process may have changed since this video was first posted. Certainly, component availability with respect to the flash memory chips has changed. The 1MB PUYA chip used in this video is no longer avaiable, however the 'basic part' 16MB WINBOND chip is still available. I have updated the designs to utilize the WINBOND chip for your convenience. I tested several of the assembled personality chips I received from JLCPCB and all functioned as expected. These personality chips come blank and require a programming device and software to program them.
