Tucker Zimmerman, iconic American singer-songwriter, passed away last Saturday , January 17, 2026, under tragic circumstances: he and his wife of 50 years, Marie-Claire Lambert, died of asphyxiation in a house fire. He was 84 years old.
I came across a cover that I recorded of OREGON, Tucker’s best-known song. It’s about the European settlers who colonized the US, from one coast to the other, as if it were a divine mission, an evident destiny. Tucker wrote this for his friend, banjo player Derroll Adams (1925–2000). This is the aucio with subtitles and images. Recorded in 2006 by Johan Vigoureux at CC Luchtbal.
