I finally had some time to do some editing!
We had 4 trials.
Rye was planted across the whole field after chopping corn in fall of 2021.
On half of the field the rye was baled the field was tilled. On half of the field we left the rye standing and planted directly into it.
Each half had one section that was drilled at 7.5in and one section that was planted at 30in.
On the areas that had standing rye we tried to harvest the rye mid July.
This was a single year, non-replicated trial, so these are not "scientific" results, but gave us a feel for how each system could function if taken to a larger scale.
Results:
No-tilled into Rye, 7.5in = 65bu/ac
No-tilled into rye, 30in = 47bu/ac
Tilled, 30in = 71bu/ac
Tilled, 7.5in = 53bu/ac
