Here’s a walk through a student binder used in the Classical Conversations Essentials program. Hopefully seeing the pieces will help you decided what you want to include in yours and how you want to organize yours. Mine is divided into 2 binders, one for Essentials of the English Language (EEL) and one for the writing program. The writing binder includes a print out of the Student Resource Packet which is a free download from IEW with the purchase of your History-Based Writing Lessons book. I prefer my SRP 3-hole punched rather than spiral bound as some suggest. Here’s a link to the document listing what I have in my student notebook. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1AfRwCDFabJywtjGEMvjVM8E7gu27DG4c69N4-Skgl4I/edit?usp=sharing Here are time stamps to skip you to places you might want to specifically look for in the video: :00 Intro & why make a student binder? 2:38 Pencil pouch 3:28 Why a deck of cards? 4:36 Folder or front pocket for English grammar trivium table & quid et quo 5:11 Section 1: Charts - Grammar Mastery Charts 5:57 EEL Scope & Sequence 6:15 Glossary of Abbreviations 7:03 The charts 9:12 Section 2: Sentences 9:47 Analytical Task Sheet 10:23 Blank diagramming page 10:44 Blank quid et quo & laminated quid et quo 11:25 Question confirmation 11:48 Sample pages - ATS, QeQ, Diagramming 12:26 Section 3: Editing (**2020 Update: The SRP is no longer a free download with the history based writing books, nor is it a required resource, so you may not have access to this page.
