It wasn't surprising that when he and Cinder’s elderly owner passed away, Cypress did not take the shelter life very well again. After being transferred several times, the last one he was in was where Cinder met his end and Juniper came into the picture. She was the beacon of light, along with May, who helped Cypress overcome his depression and find hope and freedom. Short lived of course, in both aspects. Cypress was killed in the shelter while Juniper was able to escape. In death, Cypress is never able to rest and dreams of a heaven in which Cinder was there.
