Ottawa's Heart: Introduction

Thank you for taking the time to consider our campaign to map the increasing number of publicly accessible AEDs in Canada, using Ottawa as a pilot city. Since the chance surviving cardiac arrest drastically decreases (7-10%) every minute without defibrillation it is very important that the devices can be found efficiently in the event of an emergency. As two socially-minded entrepreneurs with considerable programming, sponsorship and management experience, we plan to tackle this challenge by building an intuitive application and driving its use through a compelling campaign. The end goal being to raise awareness about AEDs and heart health while crowdsourcing a comprehensive list of publicly accessible AEDs in Ottawa, complete with detailed location and maintenance information.
