Paganini's Caprice #19 Scale Workout
Hey gang! Here's the next episode of Scales & Tales with Paganini's Caprice #19 Scale Workout. I've had a number of requests for "more classical" and also "more Paganini," which is exactly what you'll find hiding in this lesson - so lets dive in! This lesson revolves around the middle "B" section of Paganini's Caprice #19, from his famous '24 Caprices' collection of violin etudes, which were written and compiled between 1802-1817. Needless to say, Paganini's '24 Caprices' raised the bar of technique and performance for violinists a few hundred years ago, while they also caught the attention/inspiration of other musicians playing various instruments from all over the world. The section we're targeting in this lesson is the dark shift that occurs when the piece moves from the light and airy Eb major section that opens the piece, to the brooding and darker C minor section that we're hitting here, and as I've said before - I REALLY like minor keys! As this lesson unfolds, you'll see we're moving through various melodic phrases and scale-based runs using the C melodic minor scale. Once the C minor section finishes, we're also taking a look at the Bb Major section that follows, before it moves back to the C minor section again. Needless to say, if you're a viewer that asked for "more classical" or "more Paganini," a player looking for a scale based workout that will surely challenge your fingers and technique, a guitarist wanting some more insight surrounding the legendary composer Paganini, or maybe you're just curious what all the fuss is about - this lesson is totally for you! Give this episode a view, leave some comments/feedback, and please subscribe to Late Night Lessons - THANK YOU!
