In low-resource areas (such as rural clinics), point-of-care technologies that can assist with disease diagnostics, for example, needs to be affordable, sensitive, specific, user friendly, rapid and robust, equipment free and deliverable to end users. The CSIR's Microsystems research group is working to develop paper-based sensors that conform to these criteria.
