Parallel Lives is the result of work with a group of young Bengali men in Bow West, close to the London Olympic Park, who wanted to create a piece of work that communicated something about themselves, their identities and aspirations to a wider community that they feel sometimes misunderstands them and with whom they occasionally come into conflict.
The film was made by combining the results of photography, poetry and filmmaking workshops conducted over the course of 10 evenings in the Spring/Summer of 2012.
A second film is planned when the group comes together again for more intensive filmmaking workshops in the Autumn of 2012.
