In this video we go over the steps to successfully perform Password Cracking Using Hashcat and NTDS.dit. We'll first restore the NTDS.dit and SYSTEM file using the free version of Veeam and from there use Kali linux to extract the hashes using the secretsdump python file. Once we have the hashes, we can use hashcat to run through either a brute force method or a dictionary method to determine if a user in your environment has a very weak password.
The purpose of this video is show how to audit weak passwords so you can proactively protect your users.
