The city of Menagerie has come a long way since its inception as a ramshackle outpost in the middle of untamed wilderness. It rose up from the dedication, sweat, blood, tears of its citizens — and a few deals made with hideous, unsavory beings of the deep sea. In exchange for a golden age, a worthy sacrifice was promised. Alas, when the time comes a few decades later, hubris and pride rear their ugly heads. The Menagerie’s leadership breaks the promise and kills the aquatic envoys. They may have won a short fight, but they started a war they have no hope of winning. The city’s fate is sealed. The dark seas call upon their most promising or ambitious servants, some of them having a personal story with the Menagerie. They receive a single, overreaching goal — bring the city to ruin. How they approach it is left in their capable hands. Those that heed the deep sea’s call are: Timir, a Goloma Monk; Recluse, an Azarketi Rogue; Kaya, a Yaoguai Witch and Ruck T. A new version of the game, Pathfinder 2nd Edition, was released in August 2019. It continued to use the OGL and SRD, but significant revisions to the core rules made the new edition incompatible with content from either Pathfinder 1st Edition or any edition of D&D.
