It’s a tool used for Predicting Performance: The test is designed to predict various aspects of military performance, including leadership potential, resilience, team orientation, and even physical fitness test performance . Implementation and Evaluation: • The Army, Air Force, and Navy have conducted validation research on TAPAS, with the Marine Corps planning to start validation soon. • A three-year pilot study was launched to evaluate the use of TAPAS in supplementing cognitive ability tests for recruitment. • The test is administered at Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS) alongside other entrance exams. ✅Benefits and Outcomes: • TAPAS is designed to be resistant to faking, making it suitable for high-stakes testing situations. • It helps identify highly motivated soldiers who tend to have better outcomes in both “will-do” (e.g., higher physical fitness scores, lower attrition) and “can-do” (e.g., training scores, performance ratings) areas. • The test shows smaller gender and racial/ethnic differences compared to cognitive tests like the AFQT.
