An opening sequence I animated for "PESTA", a concept for a Folk Horror movie set during the 14th century in Norway taking place during the black death.
Pesta is a Norwegian folktale about an old woman who travels village to village during this time of imminent plague. If you see her sweeping her broom, that means the whole village will suffer. However, if one spots Pesta with her rake, some may be spared...
Visuals were heavily inspired by Theodore Kittelsen, a 20th Century painter from Norway who helped visualize Pesta as a folk tale.
All of the visuals were hand-drawn with charcoal and edited using Adobe PhotoShop and Adobe After Effects.
