Peter Batchelor & Ian Bilson's CONTRAPTION, Work in Progress

Work in progress for Contraption, a sound sculpture comprising a series of multichannel towers, each containing several rings of eight speakers. Each ring of speakers acts as a 'cog' in an imagined machine. Visitors to the installation are empowered to trigger rotary gestures which travel up and down the pillar or catalyse similar events on other pillars. Longterm gestures across the installation settle into stable acousmatic scenes.
