PETER MARCUS

Peter Marcus creates large-scale experimental prints inspired by and based on architecture. The former faculty member at Washington University in St. Louis' School of Art has exhibited widely across the United States, including New York and Chicago, and internationally in the Netherlands. Marcus' prints attest to his technical mastery over the printmaking process. Marcus' pieces are about combining opposites, being large while, at the same time, intimate and geometric while organic. Of his work and art Marcus has stated, "The most important attitude I think I have toward art is that it is all about ideas, both in image and technique. I think artists have to take risks, experiment, and allow themselves to change. As a teacher, I try to provide an atmosphere where the students can explore, take risks, and not be afraid to make mistakes as if there are any mistakes in art.”
