Many aspects of Poland's contribution to the Allied victory in World War II have been overlooked, including the breaking of the German enigma code, but this story is better known today than ever before. However, Poland's human intelligence efforts remain shrouded in secret. Even after 80 years, only small pieces of this history are known, even in Poland. Yet, half of Allied intelligence reports from continental Europe came from Polish sources and in the view of American leaders, Poland had the most effective intelligence service of any Allied power. This presentation will outline this amazing story and some of the men and women behind it, including figures who may have served as the real-life models for characters in the James Bond books and movies.
