After Ryusei only barely killed the lamalice, I upgraded it as much as I could. After Rai still didn't overkill it by enough to be comfortable, I sold all my upgrade parts to max out its weapons. Everyone else's attack was done with equivalent upgrades (god damn it, Arado).
