Here, we unwrap a sphere by preserving the total area 4pir^2. The initial error in area calculation is due to the curvy nature of the actual surface whereas the discrete elementary surfaces are assumed flat. Our area calculation becomes more accurate as the curvature decreases with the unwrapping percentage. We can improve it by higher resolution of the grid.
