Piano Ninja
This is my little piano etude called "Piano Ninja," featuring Prof. Florian Hölscher, pianist of the Ascolta ensemble. I plan to create more solo works in this style with admirable musicians. I already have material for "Cello Ninja," and I'm in talks for a "Viola Ninja." Recently, I have been inspired by the photographer Platon and the YouTube channel Soft White Underbelly. Over the years, I hope to collect a series of short Ninja works featuring some of the world's best instrumentalists. With Prof. Hölscher, we had only a couple of hours to sample the material, so there was no time for a second take. Amid many ongoing projects, I had just two days to compose and render this etude for its premiere at the Musikhochschule Frankfurt. I used Final Cut Pro to edit the piece. I usually do things twice. I'm never satisfied with my first attempt. No matter the project's complexity, I typically do most steps twice. However, short works like this produced quickly, teach me to trust my intuition, avoid overthinking, enjoy the excitement of sharing them, and move on to composing new works.
