Pilates Tutorial for Beginners: The Roll Up is a classic exercise that helps to strengthen your core, lengthen your spine, and improve your flexibility. It's a great exercise for beginners because it's easy to modify and can be done without any equipment. Benefits include: Strengthens the core muscles, including the rectus abdominis (abs), transverse abdominis (deep core muscles), and obliques (side abs) Lengthens the spine and improves flexibility Improves balance and coordination Tips: If you have trouble rolling up all the way, you can modify the exercise by bending your knees or keeping your feet flat on the floor. You can also use a Pilates resistance band to help you roll up. Simply loop the band around your feet and hold the ends in your hands. As you roll up, pull the band towards you to assist with the movement. Be sure to keep your core engaged throughout the entire exercise.
