Plackett Burman analysis is a statistical method, used for the selection of important factors, under study. This method is based on statistical F test, which is the ratio of variance. Here the variance is calculated by taking the square of a response, when a factor is present vs when factor is absent. This variance is then compared with the variance due to dummy variable. The magnitude of F ratio tells weather a factor has a significant contribution in giving response or not.
