Pool Light Trouble

Had a pool light not working. Thought I would just take out the old bulb and replace it with a new one. Well, it didn't quite work out that way. So hopefully this video will help others that may run into this problem. After replacing bulb, replacing pool box insulation, GFCI outlet (20 amp outlet), and outlet cover, it turned out that it was the substance inside the light fixture compartment. It appears the substance around the socket must of got hot and expanded and expanded on the socket and old light bulb. Not sure how long this fix will last, but maybe it will last long enough for me to research replacing the whole light fixture. I used this youtube video to help diagnose if I had a problem with the wiring. I did in fact show a problem when that substance around the socket was on it. However when I pushed it back, the test showed that my wiring was fine. Here is the link Pool Technicians https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tc_Pm8ioB-U Items I purchased for this not so cheap fix. Duck Brand Extra Large Gap Weatherstrip seal $4.19. https://bit.ly/2JadOHC Home Depot 20 amp GFCI outlet $22.98. https://thd.co/2Ll65TB Halco 400 Watt R40 120 Volt Brass Base Bulb $27.77 at my local pool store. I would suggest you price shop on this item. Another pool store in my area was selling them for $17.00 and change, but at the time they were out of stock. Lesson learned. Outlet cover from Home Depot $3.67. https://thd.co/2JuV05v
