Power Line Behind It… Two Stems, Two Techniques

Tree felling near power lines — two-stem tree removal with a tree-jack and a tackle (pull line). Power line danger, back-leaner stem, hinge control, directional felling, and real job problem-solving. Chainsaw work in tight targets: clean hinge, low cuts, controlled pull, and safe positioning. This job looks normal from a distance, but the electric line behind the tree changes the plan immediately. The ground reach and lay angle mean I can’t “just drop it” — I have to control it. It’s a two-stem tree, and each stem needs a different technique: Stem #1: slight back-leaner, controlled with a tree-jack (low push, narrow hinge, predictable force) Stem #2: growing low, so the cuts must stay low to protect the remaining stem — controlled with a tackle / pull line Real work reality hits too: dirt in the cut, the chain goes dull, so I switch saws. I even use the MS500 as a wedge so if something breaks, it won’t come back toward me. In the end: controlled movement, safe direction, and a beautiful hinge.
