A one-bench Supreme Court ruling has granted to stay the National Court decision of August 24th which declared a recount of the 2017 general election for the Southern Highlands Regional seat.
The decision was handed down following an urgent Supreme Court appeal application filed by William Powi.
This means, Powi is given an extension to exercise his functions as Governor pending the Supreme Court hearing on the matter.
