PPGD: Chapter 3 Animatic
Yes, it's back. It took about eight long years, but I've finally decided to honor my obligation to get back to these and complete the series, at LEAST to the end of Chapter 6. Beyond that, I cannot promise, though putting together these soundtrack remixes again sounds fun. I'll be the first to admit the camera animation isn't my best work, the time allotted from panel to panel is sometimes far too long or far too short. The most honest reason for that is that I was more concerned with the music, whose timing isn't always ideal despite my best efforts. Speaking of efforts... I won't deny, this looks a little TOO much like my old work after such a long time. The video is in standard def at 640x480 resolution when it ought to be at the standard HD by now. It's still just the entire comic pages with a CG camera animated over them, when the pages themselves SHOULD be broken down panel by panel, appearing as the action progresses with dialogue balloons popping in bit by bit, the way ACTUAL animated comics are. Speaking of "animated comics," that's what these really should be called. "Animatic" denotes rough animation work or more fleshed-out storyboards put together to get an idea on timing, and while these do that I can't call them animation with a straight face. I only continue calling these "animatics" so as not to confuse old viewers hoping to track these down. I really ought to be including a lot more foley in these. More subtle noises of movement, ambient sounds, kids mumbling in the background of school-hall scenes, hell, FOOTSTEPS. Something more than the really really obvious noises that are implied if not screamed at the reader. The superpowers, energy effects, electricity and the like could be made more dynamic if actual CG effects were rendered in. If I was giving my all, that's what it SHOULD contain. As it is, I'm busy with a hundred other projects, and these have been nagging at my mind for years for leaving them so disorderly and unfinished. Doing even ONE of the above would result in these vids taking up tons of space I don't have, and time I should really be spending on other things. I really just felt the soundtracks, which have been finished for YEARS, were a shame to be left wasting on my hard drive, unseen by people who clearly showed interest. Well, this is the first piece of that, for closure if nothing else. Enjoy ;-)
