Practical Simulator Sessions - ART LTR 2

This is the second in this subset of videos where we will look at the ART (Association of Ringing Teachers) Learning the Ropes scheme which contains 5 initial levels and how we can use a Simulator / Dumbbell to assist with the practice for each of these. Level 2 is looking at creating a foundation for ringers that sets the level that they will ring for the rest of their ringing career. In this video we look at ringing rounds, speed changes, setting up a foot pedal to increase and decrease speed without using the mouse as well as setting up 3 ringers in Virtual Belfry where this is not immediately obvious how to achieve it. If you want information on setting up and ringing Kaleidoscope then the link is: https://youtu.be/57iy6q_-z_U Deatils for Mexican Wave can be found here: https://youtu.be/3qftIK09c4w (note that when this video starts, the title is wrong - it says Dodging !) - IMPORTANT - We stress that there is ALWAYS a significant difference between a dumbbell and a Tower Bell and this should always be taken into account when teaching on a dumbbell and special care should be taken with a learner who is confident on the Dumbbell when first going to a tower to ensure that the transition is both safe and uneventful as far as the steeple keeper is concerned! In this video, I have coerced my wife Jill who has been ringing for over 20 years to take the part of the student, she assures me that her aim was to present herself as a new ringer, react as they would react and that any apparent or percived errors were in sympathy with the persona she had taken on ... Hmmmm .. not going there ! The ART Website is a great resource for anyone who is starting to ring or who is teaching others - http://ringingteachers.org For those using Learning the Ropes (LtR) the ART SmART Ringer resources are extremely useful and informative - https://smartringer.org/ If you have any comments, feel free to leave them in the comments section below and subscribe to receive a notification when new videos are released. The Dumbbell used was built during 2020 in the Covid-19 Lockdown, in this video we are using Virtual Belfry ( http://belfryware.com ) on a Fujitsu Laptop connected via SIMBELL (http://www.simbell.co.uk) Wireless Hardware.
