The Elytra-Mace combo is an advanced Minecraft PvP technique that uses the Mace's "Smash Attack" mechanic—which scales damage based on fall distance—while flying. Because descending with an Elytra counts toward the Mace's fall distance, you can deliver one-shot kills from the air. How to Perform the Combo To successfully land a smash attack, you must transition from flying to falling just before the hit. YouTube YouTube +1 Gain Height: Use a Firework Rocket to fly above your target. The Dive: Point your crosshair at the target and dive. Steep angles increase speed, making you harder to dodge but riskier if you miss. The Swap: Just before impact, you must stop flying to trigger the Smash Attack. There are two main ways to do this: Chestplate Swap: Use a hotkey to swap your Elytra for a Chestplate mid-air. This instantly stops your flight and adds armor protection for the landing. Look Up: Briefly looking up can stall your Elytra flight, but swapping gear is more consistent for high-speed "dive nuking". The Strike: Left-click with the Mace as you fall onto the target. A successful hit negates all fall damage.
