This is the technological companion for Independent Events, the Law of Total Probability, and Markov Chains (https://youtu.be/EZGwKX9CjsM). In this technological companion, we demonstrate how to build a Markov model in MATLAB (using made up initial data and transition probabilities). We'll use this model to estimate the equilibrium distribution of states for a system that models vegetation succession dynamics in a simplified desert plant community.
