Etching is a type of printmaking that uses incised lines on a metal plate to hold the ink that will form the image when printed, a technique known as ‘intaglio’ (meaning carved or incised in Italian). Artist Rachel Duckhouse works in Glasgow, and her work explores the connection between inner and outer worlds through imagined geometries, patterns, and places. Here, Rachel demonstrates how she creates etchings with aquatint on a copper plate at Glasgow Print Studio.
