This video is a tribute to my Bharatanatyam Teacher Pushpa Shankar, who taught me this beautiful ashtapadi while I was studying in Kalakshetra in 2010. It is a love letter to Dance, in deep gratitude to all my teachers and mentors and inspirations.
From Jayadeva's "Gita Govinda" part X, XIX song:
"If you speak, just a little, the brightness of your teeth like a crescent moon will dispel the dread darkness of fear."
Krishna invites Radha to place her foot on his head as a remedy for the poison of love.
This piece speaks to me about the surrendering of ego and ending the suffering caused by the illusion of separation.
