We saw this in chapter two (2.51) and three (3.12) if you want to revisit for some background. But this problem is easily solved using the previous results via method of images. (Wikipedia actually uses a couple examples from this book in their write up.) This is really a bunch of mathematical gymnastics that requires us to play around with the context. Such as using equipotential surfaces that allow us to modify the previous result for this scenario. Brilliant. Then using the expansions and so on. Fun, fun problem, but definitely messy! 2.51 = https://youtube.com/shorts/LIrylyZPnwM?feature=share 3.12 = https://youtu.be/xdXSRr-vW30 ☞ 📚📖📓= Griffiths, David J. “Chapter 7 Electrodynamics.” 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘌𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘺𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘤𝘴, Pearson, Boston, MA, 2014, pp. 296–355. - - Share knowledge - tag a friend!!
