For those of you new here. My name is Joe. I spontaneously signed up for a coding bootcamp. Here on my channel I like to document my journey. I got fired from my first two jr dev jobs. So it’s been quite the experience. Hit that like button, Subscriber to my channel and follow along and see how I turn out. Today I want to talk to you about the programming languages I was taught at a coding bootcamp. This video is intended for anyone looking to attend a coding bootcamp and wants to get an early start on learning. Or, this video is for anyone that wants to take this list and try and teach themselves, because I know going to a bootcamp isn’t an option for everybody. Drop a comment down below if you are trying to teach yourself. I’ll share with you a few of my personal favorite places to start learning code. let’s get this started, and we will make this video nice and short. I attended an in person 13 week course. Here is a brief list of what I was taught. 1- to start out, of course we started with HTML and CSS. These are the foundation of web development. If you are looking to teach yourself and havnt learned anything about code. Start here. Intro to HtML and CSS. 2 - next up, we learned javascript. This is the life blood of your website. Brings life to your page. If you are already familiar with html and css this is another good place to start. (You can also consider starting with PHP. Looking back, the way you add PHP into html might have been easier experience for a self taught programmer) 3 - we learned React. Which NOT a language. But a framework or a JavaScript library. I don’t know the correct terms. Don’t fight me on that, it’s more advanced javascript. 4 - we learned NodeJs. Now this is technically a language, but it’s also javascript. As you can see we spent a lot of time working with javascript. While I was going through my bootcamp it was pretty confusing to know the difference between the front end javascript with react. And the backend javascript with node. It was a light bulb moment when I was able to different the two. 5 - we learned SQL, postgresql to be exact. This was one of the big things we learned. And personally one of my favorites. This is the database language. I didn’t know much about databases before the class began. (By much I really mean nothing at all). But it was a good time. Although I struggled I really enjoyed working with them all. Sending data from the front with react, to the back with node. Then storing in the database with SQL. It was a fun experience going from 0 knowledge on how code works to being able to build some basic full stack projects. This are all the things I was TAUGHT. But I don’t want to say I really “know” them. Yeah I built a few full stack projects where we connect them all. But there’s quite a bit more to it than that. I know everything on a fundamental level. But a lot of that I hardly even use in my day to day life. And that’s to be expected. If you are looking for somewhere to start, this is an option. There are plenty of places to get started learning to code. Starting in 2021 I am going to start documenting the process of starting a web design agency. If you already know a thing or two about websites. Want to see how I make extra money on the side selling websites, hopefully moving into it full time. If That’s a journey you want to follow. Hit that subscribe button and tag along. And I’ll catch you on the next video. Thanks for watching
