In the video above, the teacher is using progressive time delay (PTD) to teach taking turns with a toy. PTD is a procedure designed to result in near-errorless learning of skills. When using this procedure, you initially provide a prompt to ensure the child is engaging in the correct behavior. Then, you gradually increase time between the direction (or other cue) and the prompt, to give the child time to correctly respond on their own. The video above demonstrates PTD with time delays of 0, 1, 2, and 3 seconds.
