Promises of SONiC Network Operating System | CodiLime
The open source and network communities are currently coming to recognize SONiC Network Operating System as a flywheel that accelerates innovation. Various market reports, including the Gartner Market Guide for Data Center Switching, predict significant market growth for SONiC in upcoming years. We decided to check out how easy or challenging it is to develop a custom network functionality not yet natively supported by SONiC. We conducted a proof of concept (PoC) of a practical use case which we believe will be interesting for the community. In this webinar, we will present our findings and conclusions, which may have an impact on managers’ decisions when selecting SONiC-enabled hardware for their project. In this webinar, you will learn about: - SONiC’s flexibility and the potential for quick development of custom features - The specifics of coding for SONiC OS - Practical recommendations for SONiC adopters to consider. 🧐 Dive deeper into SONiC on our blog: Learn about what SONiC is, its history, architecture, and how it can be beneficial for open networking ➡️ https://codilime.com/blog/developing-custom-network-functionality-sonic/ See how you can enhance SONiC with a custom network functionality ➡️ https://codilime.com/blog/enhancing-sonic-process-developing-custom-network-functionality/ Get a thorough description of the proof of concept and conclusions ➡️ https://codilime.com/blog/sonic-adaptation-custom-functionality/ Chapters: 00:00 - Hello & Agenda 01:17 - Open Networking and OCP 02:33 - SONiC - network operating system 04:29 - SONiC OS architecture and SAI 06:51 - Use case for SONiC OS 13:05 - Solution implementation in SONiC network OS 15:06 - PoC in SONiC OS 18:43 - Demo: custom functionality in SONiC NOS 20:56 - Summary - what we achieved with SONiC OS? 24:24 - Q&A:
