Proofpoint Email Encryption Demo: Push, Pull, and Secure Reader Inbox

This demo shows different ways of accessing secure messages using Proofpoint Email Encryption. As organizations become more data aware, securely protecting information via DLP solutions is a key part of getting your knowledge back in order. Encryption goes hand in hand with that by providing users a way to securely share sensitive content to intended recipients. With Proofpoint Email Encryption we support two ways of users access to encrypted messages – Push and Pull Encryption. With Push Encryption, the encrypted message is attached to the original email message. Push Encryption maintains ease of use for the end users and absolves the need for the organization to maintain administration, maintenance, and storage of a pull infrastructure. The only negative to a Push infrastructure could be the overhead of key management, which has also been solved by Proofpoint through the use of the hosted key service. Keys are stored in Proofpoint’s cloud infrastructure providing enterprise level management of availability and backup in a secure architecture. A Pull Encryption solution sends a notification to recipients with a link to retrieve the encrypted message. The encrypted message is stored on a server. Pull solution requires less number of user clicks and provides better user experience for mobile users. A further evolution of Pull encryption is providing end users an encrypted inbox experience. This features in Proofpoint Encryption is called a Secure Reader Inbox or SRI. With SRI, users can get access to all encrypted messages from the organization in a single inbox while retaining and building upon the existing abilities around key management, custom retention period, SAML, inline attachments, and more. You also have the option of using a URL to directly navigate into inbox view. This is especially useful and helpful for healthcare organizations that employ secure message senders as their way of communicating with their end users.
