Every week, Team Protocase is bringing you a Proto Tech Tip video, where we'll give an informative look at a particular aspect of sheet metal fabrication and CNC Machining. This week, Cody from our Engineering & Design Services team goes in-depth with the different flange options inside SolidWorks and why we don't recommend using the 3rd option (bend outside). Flanges are a huge part of sheet metal design. They are pieces of your sheet metal design that are typically bent. Flanges can be bent to a wide variety of different angles. Inside SolidWorks there are 3 different flange positions (options) that a designer can choose from (material inside, material outside, and bend outside). Cody will go over each in this video and explain why we don't typically recommend using the 3rd bend option when designing your sheet metal part. Want to save design time?
