Protocol Testing DNP3 Outstation Server with Axon Test Software
In this video, we will show you how to set Axon Test for simulating and testing a DNP3 connection between an RTU IED (outstation ex: PLC, IED or RTU) and a SCADA system (Master station). About DNP3 DNP3 is a non-proprietary protocol that enables reliable, efficient, and secure communication between remote master stations and outstations in industrial automation systems. DNP3 is widely used in the water and electricity industries in New Zealand and Australia due to its need for timestamping, security, and openness. Master operation centers (MOCs) and control centers in water and electricity companies need to monitor all the main activities and equipment for each substation and pump station. DNP3 is a valuable tool for these organizations, as it allows them to collect and analyze data in real time, identify potential problems, and take corrective action quickly and efficiently. Advantages of DNP3 • DNP3 allows time-stamping to be captured even when the system communication fails. • Security with encryption and authentication • Supports unsolicited responses (typically used to report alarms) About Axon Test Axon Test simulator is designed for the analysis and testing of various IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Devices), RTU or SCADA using industrial protocols: • Modbus TCP/IP • Modbus RTU • DNP3 LAN/WAN & Serial • IEC 60870-5-104 • OPC With Axon Test, you can easily create connections for both master devices and slaves. You also have the option to create signal descriptions which can be tested.
