My tongue was on fire– my heart wasn’t right Spoke too quick– thought too slow–Didn’t care of the evil lies I told. But the Spirit of Christ– whispered–soft and kind–“Child– let My truth renew your mind.” Now I measure words before they fly–And wisdom crowns my humble cry. [Chorus] He who has a crooked mind finds no good inside—And he who is perverted in his language falls into evil and wicked anguish—But they that restrains their words has knowledge and a mind well polished—And he who has a prudent spirit is a man of understanding—Lead by Christ with Holy Ghost planning—And whoever has this understanding is even-tempered– Established to receive God’s true benefits. [Verse 2] Now I see the fruit that patience grows–When peace like a river softly flows. Not every thought deserves a sound–Sometimes silence shakes the ground. In the stillness– truth takes form–Grace becomes my steady norm. Christ my teacher–Spirit my guide–Now wisdom stays deep inside.
